Lincoln Christian: Tulsa Private Schools Cheer Team Spotlight – Presented by Tulsa Bone & Joint

The Lincoln Christian cheer team is close to each other. So close that Gracie Rudick feels like they are more of a family than just a team.

“The thing I enjoy most about my team is that we’re not just a team,” she said. “We reach out to one another, not only in the hallways, but also outside of school. There’s never a dull moment with all the different personalities that our team is built upon.”

Head coach LeAnn Sensintaffar says that this year’s squad is very athletic and she is excited to see them continue to develop.

“This team is doing all they can to help fight the stereotype that cheer is ‘not a sport.’ We know differently and strive to show it every time we take the sideline, field, or competition mat. This team buys in to our ‘One Team’ mentality. That mentality is not only with their fellow teammates, but with all of our girls’ athletic teams. We all bonded during our Lincoln Summer Pride program, and the support we all have for each other is unlike anything I have seen.”

The team won several awards at summer camp this year. They were also State Runner-Up in the OSSAA Game Day competition for Class 3A last year.

Kaely Cozad, who is also a captain, says that her favorite thing is being a role model to the younger girls, who may one day become cheerleaders.

“What I enjoy most about cheering is that I get to have an impact on the younger girls on the squad and be an example for them. It is truly amazing to be able to invest in relationships with every single one of them and be there for them no matter what.”

The future looks bright for the Lincoln Christian cheer squad.

“Our team is growing,” Sensintaffar stated. “We went from twelve last year to twenty this year. We will graduate only one senior in 2020, and I am looking forward to building on the amazing things they have and will accomplish this year. These girls feel like family to me. I love being able to pour into their lives and have them also pour into mine.”
