Collinsville Cardinals

Coach: Todd Anderson

18-19 Record: 17-10

The Cardinals will return four players who saw a lot of action during last year’s state tournament run. Seniors Ethan Cole (6-0), Nathaniel Serna (6-1), Gage Longshore (6-4), and Gage Tacker (6-3) will be counted on to lead the way while the underclassmen will need to step into more productive roles. Cole returns as the team’s leading scorer, averaging 12.5 points per game last season along with three rebounds and two assists. Fellow guard Serna, who averaged 7.5 points, four rebounds, and two steals per game last year, will look to up those numbers and have a big season as well. Longshore and Tacker both averaged four points a game last season and will be counted on in the forward positions. Juniors Caden Bouy (6-0), Corey Dees (6-0), and Brandon Morgan (6-4) should have a huge impact as well. Other players to keep an eye on are Cody Blair (6-4, Sr.), Chayse Sclomann (6-0, So.), Cooper McDowell (5-10, So.), Jacob Scyrkels (6-2, Jr.), Riley Jackson (6-0, Sr.), and Nate Wilkens (6-4, Jr.).

Coach: Brad Cantrell

Growth and development are two goals coach Brad Cantrell is eager to see from his team this season. “Very excited to see these girls work and continue to grow throughout the season,” said coach Cantrell. Brooklyn Farley (5-11, Sr.) brings senior leadership to the floor and is one of two returning starters for the Lady Cardinals. Farley averaged 5.0 points and 3.0 rebounds a game last season. Carley White (5-10, So.) joins Farley at forward where the pair look to create matchup problems for opponents. White also averaged 5.0 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Segen Henley (5-1, So.) leads a talented but young group of backcourt players, which will include Addison Wickman (5-3, So.), Abbey Stamper (5-5, Fr.) and Christina Victoria (5-6, Jr.). Other players to watch include Riley White (5-8, So.), Makayla Meadows (5-5, Fr.), Kelsie Baker (5-7, Sr.), Lexi Gregory (5-8, So.), Madi Carlile (6-0, So.) and Kelly Ellis (5-10, Jr.). The coaching staff will consist of Shelbie Kirby, Haylie Kirby and Art Smalygo.
