The Coweta Tigers enter this season with a plethora of experience and are looking to make a postseason run. Brandon Maddux, Tigers head coach says that he expects big things from his squad. “We return a lot of experienced players from last year’s team,” he said. “With a big group of seniors and some talented underclassmen, we should be very competitive.” Hayden Brewster (5-11, Sr.) was last season’s leading scorer for the Tigers, averaging 7.1 points per game, along with 1.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists. Looking to make a big impact this season are Seth Anderson (6-0, Sr.) and Chandler Wheeler (6-4, Sr.). Last season, the duo of Anderson and Wheeler combined for 13.2 points, 6.5 boards, and 3.1 assists per game. Tyler Arreola (5-11, Sr.) tallied 4.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.8 assists last season and will be looking to be a bigger presence on the court. Returning to the forward position, Jacob Mills (6-4, Jr.) was good for 5.7 points and 2.6 rebounds per game last season and will be leaned on to disrupt opponents offenses. Other players looking to make an impact are Max McGhee (6-0, Sr.), Tryston Doherty (6-2, Jr.), Na’Kylan Starks (5-9, Fr.), Mason Ford (5-9, Fr.), Tye Lair (5-10, So.), Jeremiah Hall (5-9, Jr.), and Collin Plunk (6-1, Sr.).

GIRLS

Coach: Brad Crace

Coweta Lady Tigers’ head coach Brad Crace’s team enters this season with a lot of excitement and hope. Last season, the lady tigers’ season ended in the first round of the Class 5A state tournament. While they were excited to make it that far, they were not satisfied to just make it. Crace says his team is improving and ready to get back on the court. “We return four starters from last year’s team that made it to the state quarterfinals,” he said. “In order to go further this season, we have to continue to improve on the defensive end.” The lady tigers’ leading scorer from a year ago, Linda Brice (5-4, Jr.) will be called upon to continue her scoring ways. She averaged 14.5 points per game. Madison Wheat (5-4, Sr.) will return to her point guard position, where she averaged 11.1 points, 5.3 assists, 5.3 steals, and 4.4 rebounds per contest last season. Playing in the front court, Alexia Mercer (6-0, Jr.) will look to be a strong presence and wreak havoc on the opponents defense. Allyson Mercer (6-0, Jr.), Hannah Meadows (5-4, Jr.), and Moriah Reed (5-10, Jr.) will be expected to play key roles throughout the season for Coweta. Other players to watch are Amanda Geneva (5-8, Jr.), Alyvia Schumacher (5-4, Jr.), Nicki Ullrich (5-8, Jr.), Katelyn Brians (5-4, Fr.), and Cooper Hilton (5-4, Fr.).
