Haskell’s Sydnie Roberts – Character Counts Presented by BancFirst Coweta

Athlete and Senior student for Haskell High School, Sydnie Roberts, has a great attitude on and off the court. Sydnie is currently involved in basketball, but also plays slow and fast pitch softball for the school. She currently plays forward for the team. Sydnie has been playing basketball since she was in the eighth grade.

“I just decided to give it a shot,” said Sydnie.

Simply getting the opportunity to play basketball is what Sydnie loves and of course winning feels good too.

“My favorite part of basketball is playing the game and winning,” Sydnie said. Playing basketball has taught her many skills including life skills. Sydnie says it taught her “to work hard because nothing comes easy.”

This year she is looking forward to having a great basketball season as well as working at being a great leader. You can also catch her serving her community and others in National Honor Society.

“I want to provide positive leadership for my underclassmen,” Sydnie said.

Being a senior can often lead to a lack of motivation for some, but not for this athlete.

“Athletics provides motivation for me to get good grades and to prepare for college,” Sydnie said.

Her coaches, Coach Luellena and Coach Ward also provide as great motivating parties. She is looking forward to hopefully participating in the state tournament this year as a senior.

After high school Sydnie plans to attend college in hopes of getting to play basketball for the school, all while earning a degree in engineering.
