Coweta’s Linda Brice: Character Counts Presented By BancFirst

Linda Brice is such a hard worker and strong role model that, even as a junior, she has grown into a team leader for the Coweta basketball squad. “I think I’m a good leader,” said Brice, who has been playing basketball since third grade. “I encourage the team and I just try to do the little things, just try to make everyone around me better, just trying to be a more positive person, try not to get down on myself or other people around me.”

After Coweta went 19-9 last season, reaching the Class 5A state quarterfinals, Brice believes that another outstanding year is in store for the Tigers this time around. “I knew that we had a really special group and I just had a lot of trust in our team and I knew that we’d make it really far, because of all the work that we put in,” Brice said of last season. “We knew that we could make it further but we came up a little short. I think we’re still going to be good, we just got to keep on getting in a really great mindset and just working on our blockouts, but I think we’re going to be really good this year. We’re looking for a championship this year.”

Brice, a guard, has also been working hard on upgrading her own game. “Mainly my defense and just shooting a little bit more,” she said of the areas she’s been trying to improve.

Brice’s impressive work ethic has not gone unnoticed by her teammates. “She is very hard-working, she always gives 110 percent in games, she’s just a good player to play with,” said Tigers senior point guard Madison Wheat. “She’s one of my favorite players. Our chemistry is really good and she’s just really hard-working. She never really settles for anything.”
