Sapulpa’s Conner Burch: Character Counts Presented By Cecil & Son’s Discount Tires

Anyone familiar with high school baseball in Oklahoma knows there are certain teams you do not sleep on. The Sapulpa Chieftains are one of those teams. Led by Steve Irvine, the Chieftains have several players capable of leading the team including Conner Burch from the bump.

“I’ve played baseball sense I was able to walk, it’s been my happy place for years,” said Burch.

Burch and his teammates have developed a great team atmosphere and they are poised for a strong outing this season.

“What I love most about my teammates is that you can always count on them, on and off the field. We’re all family and our culture is very strong. I wouldn’t want any other team,” said Burch. “Expect a group of dogs ready to play with grit. There’s a fight in us.”

They have one goal in mind and that is winning a state title. If Burch and company can pull it off, it would be the first baseball title in school history.

Burch is not only focused on making the most of every pitch, but he is always engaged in the classroom and pushes himself to make good grades.

“Academics are very important, I take it with heart and pride. I’d like to play Major League Baseball, that’s my goal,” said Burch.

With help from his coaches and other influences, Burch just may make that dream come true.

“My two biggest influences would be my head coach and my pitching coach. They’ve shown me how to grow up the right way. They’ve also shown me what it takes to be one step ahead of everyone else,” said Burch.

Away from school you can usually find Burch spending time with friends or learning more about the game of baseball.
“I like to just try to make as many people happy as I can,” said Burch.
