- Updated: April 30, 2020
As a five-year-old, Reece Whitaker’s parents signed her up to begin playing soccer. That struck a passion in Reece that has kept her playing soccer ever since that time. Reece has not only grown up playing for her school, but she has also spent a lot of time playing club soccer. She has played for the Tulsa Soccer Club and the Elite Clubs Nation League which is a highly competitive league that is known for helping young athletes get noticed through college recruiting.
Reece has taken on a leadership role as one of the captains of the soccer team for her senior year at Jenks High School. She is not only a leader on the field, but in the classroom as well. She is the Vice President of the FCA, a senior class officer, and is also highly involved in Student Council. When she is not on the field or in the classroom, Reece enjoys hanging out with her friends and family.
When Reece was asked what lessons soccer has taught her she said, “I’ve found confidence in leading others on the field, but also off of it. On the field, I direct my teammates and communicate what needs to be done. Before club games, I pray for my team and I’ve found that I have been able to reach people through faith. It’s really cool to see. Off the field, my goal is to set an example for incoming players.”
Reece’s favorite part about soccer is the competition of playing and the community involvement. She has a strong love for both soccer and her teammates. Reece loves competing and winning with her girls.
